Shweta Basu Prasad is an Indian film actor and model. She is also an Instagram influencer. She played many characters in the various TV Series and films and in multiple languages like Bengali, Telugu and Tamil. She did a noteworthy performance in a Bollywood film named makdi in 2002 for which she won the National Film award for best child artist.
Her early life
Shweta Basu Prasad was born in Jamshedpur which is currently in Jharkhand on January 11 199. Later she and her family migrated to Bombay. Her father’s name is Anuj Prasad and mother’s name is Sharmishtha Basu Prasad who is the musician and writer.
Her Grandfather was retired as a chief l operating officer in intelligence beauro, Delhi so we can say that she comes from a reputed and wealthy family. Shweta had studied commerce in the R N podar high school, Santacruz, Mumbai and got graduation in mass media and journalism.

Her career in a glance
She started acting at a very early age.she was a formal television actor and model. Her debut film was 2002 makdee in which she acted as a child artist. After huge success on the silver screen she got many offers from some of the famous TV serials of that time too like Kahani Ghar Ghar Ki and Karishma ka Karishma.
In 2005 she was offered the film Iqbal by director Nagesh kukunoor. After that film she took a break and completed her studies. She spent almost four years between 2012 to 2016 researching and making documentary films with music giants like Shubha Mudgal and A R Rahman.
She did Telugu films too and made her debut in 2008 with the film kotha Bangaru lokam. She completed 8 movies in Tamil, Telugu and Bengali so far.
Apart from these activities she also had off camera work for which she worked as a script consultant at Phantom films. She has a great comeback from the Balaji telefilms Chandra Nandini and another with Bollywood film Badrinath ki dulhaniya by Dharma productions.
She did many films in various languages like in 2002 makdi which is the Hindi language film. In 2005 “Iqbal” and “Waah life Ho toh aisi”. She got four awards in 2002:
- for horror film makdee which were National Film award,
- Star screen awards,
- IIFA awards for best child artist
- and Disney award for children’s choice.
In year 2005 she got 4 awards which are:
Star screen awards, and Karachi international film festival award for best supporting actress awards for children’s choice, Zee cine awards for best actress and these were all for her film Iqbal. in 2008 she got two awards santosham awards and Filmfare awards for best actress for her film kotha Bangaru lokam.
Controversies about her
Shweta Basu Prasad caught red handed by Hyderabad police because of their involvement in a high profile prostitution racket. She completely denied her involvement in that case but Hyderabad police said that she was involved in it. For that case she was sent to a rehabilitation centre.
